Proposed Restoration

What we are proposing to do to the 1883 church — the work, the materials, when we hope to do it, and who is doing it. This is a "go with the flow" project and it moves as the weather, the trades and the funds allow.

We found these nautical lights and loved them — they were actually a gift. We are thrilled at the community feedback; and everyone's comments they loved them too!

Take the Poll

We loved Little Harbour Church at first sight! So much that we even bought it sight unseen. We were wondering what exactly we would do with it as far as a renovation or restoration and what materials to use and the whole look of the building's elevation etc.... and after the overwhelming response from all of you... the direction was clear, we need to do a restoration! Which means do our best to put back what was once there and keep the exterior looking as it always has. Now that is decided, we can respectfully request Heritage NL to please consider Historic Designation for Little Harbour Church. Don't you agree Little Harbour Church is a Historic site and should be acknowledged and preserved as one? Learn more and add your note

Exterior clapboard & siding

Planned

Replace rotted clapboard and keep the original profile and colour the same — white, matching the existing trim. We are leaning toward pre-painted boards: still wood and paint, just a specialized finish that arrives ready to install.

Jen suggested we reach out to Maibec and Cape Cod to see if they want to do a commercial of siding the church. The building is beautiful and the location is breathtaking — not to mention the wind and weather these materials will take here. That says it all.
